What Skincare Should I be Using?
It's the most common question we get: what skincare should I be using? Surprisingly, the answer is more simple than you might think. Use skincare that works for the unique you.
Everyone's skin is different. Dry, oily, acne, pigmented. That can mean only one thing: what works for you, might not work for someone else.
Here are a few tips to help you get started on choosing a skincare regimen, and some tips on how to refine it to make it work for you.
Start Simple, Keep it Simple
Simplicity is the key to an effective skincare regimen. Sure, we want you to love our skincare products and shop with us - that's not secret, but truth be told, less is often more.
If you're just starting out, try to pick one product from each of these steps, and start with using them once per day at night:
- Cleanse - Cleans the skin and pores of dirt, oils, pollutants, and other irritants. Our Gentle Foaming Cleanser is great for all skin types and our Multi-Action Medicated Foaming Cleanser does wonders for those with acne-prone or oily skin.
- Treat - Treatments aren't 100% necessary, but can give you amazing results in the short and long term. Our favorite for nighttime is the Retinol Renewal Cream, which not only treats, but also hydrates! Cover 2 steps in 1!
- Hydrate - Helps keep the skin moist and healthy. Of course, if you have oily skin, you can skip this step or only apply an oily free moisturizer or other moisturizing product when necessary. You can try our Hyaluronic Moisturizer.
In the Morning, Don't Forget SPF
If you prefer to do your 1x per day regimen in the morning, add the key 4th step: Protect
The most forgotten, yet most important step to any daily regimen is SPF sunscreen, which protects against the sun's harmful UVA/UVB rays.
For the face, our Weightless Barrier Moisturizer contains SPF 25, and it's silky, lightweight feel makes it perfect for everyday use. It smells great too!
Did you know? Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of signs of aging?
Don't Overdo It. Listen to Your Skin.
Skin getting dried out? Only cleanse every other evening or add moisturizer afterwards.
Are you new to Retinol? It can be a little irritating at first, so start every other day, and know that for the first week it can bring some acne to the surface of the skin. Don't worry, it will clear. That means it's working!
